This has been my first attemp at macro this morning. C&C would be much appreciated.

Good start- what camera/lens?
Only problem I see is telling what the subject is. If it's the rose then the bee almost detracts from the image, if it's the bee then you would need to try and get closer.

Yes good start. As Brian said about subject issues. I would also suggest trying for less contrasty lighting also, particularly if the main subject was the rose.

Thank you for the comments. To answer LordV question what camera and lens did I use, to be totally truthful the camera is not a canon unfortunately. The reason I have posted on this site is that this forum I have found that other members on this site are more constructive with ones technique and are very helpful with their comments along with being extremely friendly and dont seem to put any other members work down. The site is also extremely userfriendly. I hope you guys wont hold the fact I dont at this stage use a canon camera. Thanks for you input and understanding

Don't worry about not having a Canon camera. I understand many of the shots here are taken with non-Canon cameras, some are even (horrors) Nikon. :)
