View Full Version : Viewing photos in a category

Pekka,

When I select a category from the index page and click on one of the photos to view, it would be nice to be able to page through only the other photos in that category without having to return to the index. Possible?

And slightly OT (but looking at your photos has made me think about it): Is there a particular level of sharpening in LS that you favour or use more often?

Thanks again for all your efforts,

Pigasus

Another question about viewing the pictures:

What is the logic behind the order how the images a displayed. It seems that it starts to show the images in random order from the midlle or it starts from the last image and then I have to go backwards to see all the pictures in a gallery.

It would be nice if it would show the images in the same order that I have choosed in the index page starting from the first picture.

I have here a test system that works exactly like that: any way you list on list page will govern photo back-forward microthumbs list, too.

It's quite logical but there are some drawbacks, too.

One problem with this arrangement is that user should really be told in photo page what is listed and searched and sorted. If you get a link from a friend to an exhibition and see only one photo on next/previous links it could be puzzling.

Other problem is that URL of the photo will get really complicated looking.

Is it logical to you? Please comment. It's now working in http://photography-on-the.net/gallery/list.php?exhibition=1

Do a search for ISO 800 and list only category 'Artsy Stuff' and click a photo...

I can understand that, but the logic of resetting search settings when returning to the list via link is that you don't get to a situation where you get an idea there are only 10 photos in the exhibition when there are 300 more out of seach criteria.

So I forced the category reset into 'reset search' - I felt that is need to get your suggestion work.

The feature you requested is now coded there in my galleries so you can test it if it makes sense.

I like normal sharpness most of the time. I also use HQ versions (I like look of high ISO HQ very much).

Thanks again for all your efforts,

My pleasure!

Works a treat! Just what I had in mind. Now all I need is to take a few more photos to make it all worthwhile.
