Another heron in flight

I was checking all the local ponds today for kingfishers and instead found this heron. He flew around some trees, so this is the 400 5.6 + extender hand-held and manual focused. I'm surprised these birds don't leave when it gets cold like the egrets seem to do. Anyway thanks for viewing.

Nice shot through the trees like that. Shooting through the branches like that normally wreaks havoc on the auto focus. Nice job.

Yeah I had it on AF but it was jumping all over the place. Quickly put it on manual and took the shot. Surprised it turned out--thanks for the compliment.
