Here is a little trick I read in a photo mag recently. Makes see through text that works on virtually all backgrounds. I like it for watermarks.

See the end result here (http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26936&sid=7a3ea2314bd5023aec0f064 1683fece7)...

ICE BLOCK TEXT EFFECT

- type your text
- click on the text layer once to select the layer
- now CTRL-Click on the text layer to make it a selection
--> (now is last chance to change font, size, etc)
- rasterize layer (right click and select rasterize)
- change to black on white (foreground/background colors keystroke D)
- move your selection up and left 2 pixels (although I like 1 pixel better)
- fill with white (CTRL+BACKSPACE)
- move selection down and right 4 pixels (I like 2 pixels here)
- fill with black (ALT+BACKSPACE)
- move pixels back to original position, up and left 2 pixels (I do 1 pixel)
- hit DELETE
- adjust opacity as desired

Can't do this.
May I know how is this done?
Another question I would like to ask is, how to type a c in the circle in PS?
Thank you in advance.

Select the Move tool (V) and then use your arrow keys to move a pixel at a time. Shift-ArrowKey will move 10 pixels at a time, too.

For the Copyright symbol... Click on Start... Run... charmap
Choose a font, like Arial. You'll find the Copyright on the 6th row down. Click on it, then Select, then Copy to copy it to the clipboard. Go back to PS, and Edit... Paste.

Not all fonts have a Copyright symbol, though.

an easier way, which also allows you to edit the text is to do the following:

1. open your photo.
2. click on the text tool.
3. Type your text.
4. In the layers pallette set fill to 0%
5. go to Layer/layer style/bevel and emboss...
6. Set bevel how you want it.

done.

To move the selection, just NUDGE it with the arrow keys on the keyboard. To go up one pixel, just tap once on the UP arrow key.
To type © on any windows program, hold the ALT key down and type 0169 on the NUMERIC keypad, or use CHARMAP.

Sure, now you tell me... :-) This method works quite well and it is easier. Thanks for the tip. Funny the magazine "pros" wouldn't have given some advice similiar to yours.

no problem
I find that these days magazine "experts" aren't really experts at all, just people with a fair bit of experience. You know the saying, teachers 'teach' because they can't 'do'.
