Hi,
is it possible to edit a PS action? I am using PS 7.0
Thanks!
details:
I have an action that I have downloded off the web and like to use it, except it would be great if I could re-write the final step which saves the file and direct it to a directory of my choosing rather than to where it currently goes.
Seems simple enough! :?

Make sure you have a copy of the original action to reload if necessary.
Delete the step in the action you don't want. (Select the step and hit the trash icon). I don't think you can "undo" this delete.
Starting with the step before the one you just deleted, record your desired save step into the action sequence. (You should have an image open to save.)
If you haven't recorded actions, you might want to experiment a bit first.
Call my complaint department if this doesn't work out so well for you. :)

If you select the action in the list and go to File/Automate/Batch, when the dialog box opens it allows you to specify the source and destination folders/directories. If the action itself specifies locations to "open from" or to "save to", check the button that says something like ignore or override open and save commands. This way, the images in the source folder get processed by the action and saved in the destination folder, no matter what the action says about saving!
Good luck
Andy

There are some article in this section (http://www.rogercavanagh.com/actions.htm) on my site that address the points you raise.

Roger, looking for the "signature-cs" script from your site, but can't seem to find the download link. I downloaded the Signature Variations script which tells me to run the Signature-CS script. Help.

Sorry, I've forgotten to update the instructions. When I created the Plus versions of the script. I changed the names:
- signature-cs is now VS-Sig-Batch
- signature-dialog is now VS-Sig-Int
The instructions have now been updated on the site.

Cool, thanks.
Another nice feature would be to add a FILL slider in addition to the OPACITY option. This would allow for a transparent signature to be added when used in conjunction with the drop shadow.
Nice script, fun to play with.

Another problem though, I cannot get the script to output my signature in the right font. It worked once, but will not insert my font now. I am using "Harlow Solid Italic" and it is giving me "Miriad" for some reason. ??? :?:
Arial works and so do some other fonts. My "Harlow" font worked once. Whassup with that?
OK, I read the help notes... only fonts with a single word name work. Seems curious that it worked once though.

Ah well, this time I don't have to make an apology because this is explained on the web site. :D
It's some bug in Photoshop: you can only use fonts that have a single word name. I can't fathom the logic of using the Myriad font either. PS7 would default to whatever was the last font used by the text tool, but CS insists on using Myriad.
