I am a long time user of Canon EOS SLR's. Rebel, Elan 7E and now the Digital Rebel. Almost all of my photos with the digital rebel come out unerexposed even though the meter says it should be fine. Like I said, I have been using Canon SLR's for a while with good results, so I am not sure what is going wrong. Does everyone set exposre at +1 or +2? What could I be doing wrong?

Are you taking the photos indoors? Shutter speeds? a little more info would help figure this out.

Photos are inside and outside. The most recent ones were taken outdoors on a sunny day, in Manual mode, large aperature. The meter was set where it should expose "perfectly". I don't have the shutter speed or f/ stop info, I will have to check that and post later.

Insted of relaying on the built in light meter try to use a 18% gray card and set your exposure and then try to shoot

Could you possibly post a histogram from one of your shots ? That would be the best way to figure out what's going on..
Also.. (just a thought).. How is your monitor calibrated ?

If the histogram is distributed normally (a normal photograph not the gray card) indicating correct exposure, you better make sure your monitor's gamma is set right--or better yet, calibrated.

It's entirely possible that your meter calibration is biased toward underexposure. I tested mine with a calabrated meter and found both my EOS 1D and EOS 10D need about +1/3 to +2/3 exposure comp to get a correctly exposed image.
