These are pictures from my first attempt at photographing a performance. I used a Digital Rebel XT, 50mm f/1.8, and shot at both ISO 400 and 800, manual mode.
C/C welcome.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm disappointed.
No "Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem"??
Seriously, not bad at all for a first time out. Pretty good for a first time out, actually...

Thank you. I wasn't too confident while snapping the pics. The histograms are really odd with all the black and the bright characters. And, it's pretty hard to judge motion blur on the small LCD of the XT. I was actually impressed with them when I got home - better than I thought they'd be :)

Exposure looks pretty good on most. The one with Big Bird may be a little too bright but you could fix that with your RAW converter.
Just be careful not to annoy other people when you're shooting from the seats.

Yup, bigbird is overexposed. Rest is pretty much spot on though...
I like #5 best (least 'clutter'), #3 could be cropped tighter (right and top).

Pretty good for the first time. The colors are good. As mentioned above, Big Bird is a bit overexposed, but that should be easily fixed. I think those are supposed to be white feathers around the eyes, but they kind of come out as being "blown out".
#3 - Needs tighter cropping - too much black space.
#8 - I would try to remove the phantom human hands that are growing out of his side. Also the foot.

I tried to bring down the exposure on Big Bird but I think it's too overexposed to bring back any detail. I haven't done much cropping or fixing yet. I don't really expect to do anything with the pictures, it was more or less a test of my abilities. If I ever print them, i will definitely do some cropping and edit out the "extras".
Thanks for all the comments.

The ISO at 400 and even 800 is pretty low for dark venue pics...
I'm sure we all love these fuzzy little guys... It's great to see them. Thanks for sharing.
