D60. Which CF?

Hello, new member here :-)

Yes, I have read Rob's CF database, but unfortunately the Kingston cards were not tested. On D30 they were amongst the top performers. Also, the new Lexar 256MB 16x is not there. Anybody used any of those please?
Any other CF for D60 recomendations (or any ones to avoid?)

I've used many, in almost all the digital cameras out there. D30, D1x 1D E10/20

I would go with one that's USB enabled, seeing as though camera shops will sell you readers that will only work with that type. (stupid)

Of course you'll want speed for those 2.5mp jpegs. I would just go on speed. I think you're thinking way too much about it.

Microdrives aren't as slow as people say they are, and I've dropped both of mine SEVERL times, even washed one in a pair of jeans no case!!. They use it in NASA space missions, .... it's good. and VERY VERY Cheap, and only uses 10% more power.

I own a D60; I have 3 different brands of CF cards: Sandisk, SimpleTech, and Belkin. (All are 256MB).

By far, the Belkin is the fastest with the D60 (as far as writing data to the card is concerned). The SimpleTech isn't far behind, but the Sandisk is unacceptably slow (it isn't the Sandisk Ultra, just the plain Sandisk).

All of these cards are compatible with USB card readers. (This is the preferred method over downloading the CF card using the D60 supplied connection cable. The cable method is very slow).

A company called Dazzle makes a USB 2.0 card reader, which is about 40 times faster than the standard USB 1.1 spec card reader. However, you'll have to purchase a USB 2.0 expansion card for your PC to take advantage of the Dazzle's speedier downloading.

BTW, do stay away from microdrives- if you do a query on www.dpreview.com , you'll find dozens of people with defective units.
