This was a gig for a music magazine. I have no understanding on rap so I was a bit worried if I could get interesting pictures. But my new fisheye seems to make any concert interesting ;) - at least for now.

I thought the hand waving seemed to be important, so also because of that I used wide lenses to emphasize the hands.

Pictures are somewhat basic visually, but I think they will serve the purpose well (no need to go wild on PP stage for this kind of music).

It is hard for me to imagine "Rap" with no black faces!

it's hard for me to imagine Finland w/ black faces. :D

Kalle, no offense intended but i like yr metal shots a lot more. #4 isn't bad, and for #3 i'd clone out the bass guitar neck coming from out the guy's butt.

Agree with Narlus shots are not bad as such but you well you dont need me to tell you but u excel in metal shots. i do like 3 but as narlus pointed out, the bass neck is a bit distracting.
Cheers

Seems like a 'mellow' show: Acoustic guitar?
Not too energetic images either... I guess you can't photograph what isn't there :)
I would have liked the first one, if the left-most guy weren't behind the mic stand...
Any 'alternative' shots there?

I actually never noticed the bass guitar neck in #3  - would have cloned it out.

Here's a (sort of) alternative shot of #1 for René:

Things keep sticking out of his butt. I'll have to pay more attention to that in the future - I thought I was rather picky with those sort of things, but I guess the fish eye-effect fooled me, or something.

Better, but indeed, he's in pain with that guitar coming from there
Yup, shooting wider angles is more difficult because of this then shooting, say a 80-200... If you get everything right, then it pays off though.
When up close with a (U)WA, I tend to activate 'spray and pray' mode when things look good in the VF...

Not sure I'm able to verify that things look good in VF at a given moment when there are so many performers on stage... Somebody is bound to be up someone's butt :D. But I see what you mean with the spray and pray part. I, however, have slightly different priorities - most important to me is that the main performer is where he should and that I catch an interesting moment (hand waving or some other gesture). Of course, if the hand waving continues for a longer time, spray and pray might be feasible. Anyhow, I got positive feedback from the images I sent to the magazine, and I'm pretty happy myself, given the start point I have for photographing this sort of music - I don't understand rap and the show consisted mostly of, well, rap and hand waving.
