Before i started birding, i thought there was only one type of sparrow in this world. Now i know better.
I think they are beautiful little birds. The differences make it worth chasing after them. So far i have collected only 5 sparrow species. Will keep pursuing. Anyone care to send some White-crowned and White-throated over? LOL...
C/C welcome.

Very nice captures and pictures are well taken.
I'm sure the subtle differences are important to many people, but for me they are sparrows.

Beautiful and lovely series Fee. The differences are very subtle and on a first look, it's really hard to tell which is which.

Beautiful shots, very well composed and sharp. I have grown to appreciate sparrows and they are both challenging and beautiful. The Sav. and Lincoln's sparrow shots are my favorite. I'll make you a deal, I'll send some white crowned and white-throated sparrows if you send me some Painted Buntings and Scissor-tailed Flycatchers!

Fee, very nice series. We have a lot here, too. The white crowned sparrow is the only one that stands out at first glance. All the others are sort of just "LBJ'S"--you know, little brown jobbies!

Thanks for looking and commenting Mitch, Gardengirl, hTr, Paul, Reyno, Gary, ngannet, Mark, Philc123, Dan, Stephen, Mike. Glad you like them. :)
Ngannet, Dan, that sounds like a fair deal. White-crowned, White-throated, Snow Bunting for Scissor-tailed and Painted bunting. I'll throw in an Indigo Bunting if you can get me Gary's Snowy owl too.

Fee, beautiful series of sparrow shots. Wish I could catch the variety of species that you have.
Since you're on the subject of sparrows, I hope you don't mind if I post a couple of my own sparrows--the first I think is the Song Sparrow and the second the Savannah. I was bummed by the branches in #2. Could you or anyone confirm if I've ID'd these correctly?
Thanks for looking!

Well, I thought the hawks were the most confusing...but maybe it is the sparrows!

People, they are all LBJ's to me. I lay in bed at night and read my bird books, looking at the pics, trying to memorize them, and when I come to the sparrows, they all, ALL, are just "Little Brown Jobs". :D

Glad you like them Sindri, John, Trevor, Karen.
John, I would love to see the sparrows in that part of the world. :)
Mitch, no way the are LBJs. They are like M&M, cute and each has its own color and flavor. :D

Fee, these are a lovely collection of a wonderful bird. These photos and your ability to ID them speaks highly of your birding abilities. I think the little brown jobbies are highly under rated. :)

Small, brown and chirping -- all look the same to me. :) Nice shots, Fee. One of these days maybe I will be able to see the difference. Thanks Joe. When i first started bird photography, sparrow was one of the hardest to ID for me. But once i got some marking down, the rest becomes easier. Now i really enjoy seeing their differences. :)
Wonderful collection of sparrows Fee, I have song, savanah, english, white-crowned, and lark from here. Thanks Dennis. WCS is one of the easiest to ID but i still can't get any good photo of that species. I have seen Lark sparrow once, back in 2006 but no good photo either. :(

I think the little brown jobbies are highly under rated. :)Thanks Shirley. I'm still an amateur birder/photographer. Perhaps i am lucky. Two of my co-workers are Audubon members and have been birding for decades. I get help from them a lot. :)

cfcRebel......Those are truly nice shots, but I blown away at how similiar the 4 species appear. I'd certainly never be able to ID them correctly. Your 500 mm lense sure produces sharp images.
