Do you guys carry that around for your sweaty creasy hands? Perhaps a quick wipe before any photo session? Or is that too much hassle? If not are there any brand that you would go for, that won't harm the camera and your hands of course :) Just curious. I am contemplating carrying around a Wet Ones with me :D

Ferdinand

If your hands are already wet with sweat, why would you want a wet towellete? How about a nice, clean, dry handkerchief.

I personally carry a soft cotton cloth in my camera bag to use for wiping finger prints and sweat of my camera. You could even use an old white T-shirt or under shirt that's been cut to size.

BTW, I'm partial to Staedtler mechanical pencils myself. :D

Ferdinand,
I'm with Leo on a white cloth of some sort, and especially an old white T-shirt for wiping up or cleaning.
LOL on your tag. :D

I carry a Coleman portable camp shower and the Belmondo patented Extend-a-Finger (so I can reach out of the shower and snap my shots).

This keeps the camera pristine and "sweaty hand" free. If the dirt and grime is really prevalent, I'll just take a shot of my hands and clone out the filth. Just an added measure of safety.

Actually I do carry a handkerchief but not for my hands. The way I hold the camera pressed against my cheek always leaves a whopping smudge on the LCD, so I have to incessantly wipe it off to view pics and histograms.

PacAce, was gonna use old t-shirt but I am worry about the fibers. Should that be a concern at all? Thanks for your input, perhaps I will use the wet towelettes and then dry my hands with an old rag, cleaner that way :P

Bruce, ya since I cannot compete on the "L" lens and 1DMkII, I thought I will compete on a whole new level! 8)

Soft cloth here as well. I cannot keep my nose from leaving prints on the LCD, even with the eyepiece extender. Maybe a 2 inch extender would work (not that I sport a prominent proboscus or anything). :)

I carry Zeiss Lens Cloth moistened towelettes that I buy at Sam's Club and use them to clean my 10D, lens and filters. Works great.

Herb, thank you so so much, finally a serious answer, I am gonna check that out on PriceGrabber. Thanks again, cause I was worry that Wet Ones might be a tad too strong on the camera.

Ferdinand.

I guess you confused ppl by saying you worry abaut the prints on your CAMERA....that is why you got less than serious answers... About the prints on the lenses: why are there prints on your lenses in the first place???

In my vest I carry one of those souviner hand size towels that they hand out at sporting events for wiping the sweat off my brow. When it is deadly hot, I carry and extra one in my cooler. Dunk it in the ice water and squeeze it out down the back of my shirt and in the front. Two years ago, it was so hot at the Brickyard that I would do that and be drenched with ice cold water and be bone dry in about 10 minutes and cooled down for another 20-30 miuntes.

For cleaning the lens, I picked up some moist towelets at the drug store just for lens cleaning. 100 of them were about $4.99 if I remember correctly. I also have a bottle of Kodak lens cleaning fluid and lens cloths. I wouldn't use any kind of a towel on a lens for fear of scratching it.

Thanks for the info. Jeff.

Right now I am just using a big lens tissue for the lens, LCD display and the camera body, to basically get rid of any dust, fiber and stuff from the camera body. I just hate not having that new camera touch on my camera :)

Ferdinand-

I bought the Zeiss moistened lens cloths in Sam's Club. Before they started carrying the Zeiss brand, I used their "Sam's Club" private label cloths and found they also did a good job.

I found the Zeiss lens cloths available from many sources on the internet, including Amazon; however, they were packaged in 21 packs per package. I believe the Sam's Club packaging was 100 per package. If you do a web search, look for "Zeiss Lens Cloth" and you shoild get lots of possibilities.

They're distributed by Nice-Pak Products, Inc. located in Orangegurg, NY. They also have a web site.

Hope this helps.

I was one of those people - I was under the impression that you were concerned about the camera and not the lenses. The idea of moist towelettes on a lens didn't make any sense to me (though you may have been speaking of those pre-packaged moistened lens tissues, but my thoughts were more akin to something you might use after eating ribs).

At any rate, I've had some success with the lens pens for smudges, but whatever you use, make sure to brush all the dust and dirt off the lens before wiping as it will scratch regardless of what cloth or tissue you use on the glass.
