Ok, I have a monitor that is 16" from corner to corner what size is this. I am assuming its a 16". The model is CTX and is several years old, this is the one thing I did not upgrade last year. I would guess this monitor is 5 years old.

I am probably due for one, what would you guys suggest, I want to keep it as cheap as possible so I will not get a flat screen. Do I just go for an inexpensive 19". Is there anything I need to look for besides price. Or maybe I do not need to upgrade at all, except this is a little tough on my aging eyes. Thanks for the help.

There are a bunch of 19" CRTs available that are downright cheap, and they're really pretty good. The Viewsonic is readily available and can be bought for a whisker over $200US. I had one, loved it, and got rid of it only because I acquired a good, used 21" Sony and didn't have room on the desk for it.

I have a ViewSonic UltraBrite A90f+ and am very pleased with it. I bought it from best buy and I think I paid $225 last November.

The only two things I can say about it is that is is VERY BRITE and I did need to profile it with a Spyder to get decent color reproduction.

After sorting out the technical specifications on a 19" monitor, you must also realize that they are physically very large and heavy, and many are very deep, front to back. First you might want to estimate what your computer desk can handle before you shop around.

That is a 17" monitor.
The stated size is always (approx) 1" larger than actual viewing size because part of the tube is behind the plastic case.
Seems like false advertising, but that's the way it goes.
