Can anyone paste a link from B&H of the gray card that you would recommend? There are several options and I am just not sure which is the best value.

Thanks!

Nic

I have heard of folks going to the home improvement stores and walking out with counter top laminate sample cards that really match to the 18% gray as a DIY option. Those same items are what is used for the DIY movie projector screens for color balancing. Like wilsonart and formica... There are many shades of gray, I forget which matches to a 18% gray.

Well, my recommendation is Kodak's - are you asking for a second choice, or alternative sources, or ? ? ?

None of the "Home Depot" substitutes are designed to be color-neutral. While they may work OK for exposure references, I would not want to use them for white balance (color) references.

I appreciate everyones input. I was doing a search for cards and dug up this thread. I was really looking for a recomendation and not so much and alternative. I have seen different brands and am looking for the better ones. Thanks

Fashion Gray is very close to neutral gray if you needed something in a pinch. The guys over at AVS forums are more anal about colors for their home theater screens than are alot of photographers. I have been following their attempts at the holy grail of neutral projector screens for about half a year, crazy bunch of folks. They have the RGBs mapped out for many of the laminate samples, not to mention a plethra of diy paint mixes to get the nearly perfect gray screen.

LOL, thats funny. Thanks for another suggestion. I have come to the conclusion these things are a little pricey. I found the Kodak's, just one for sell on ebay. It was ten dollars but the shipping was just a little more than the cards.

Novatron makes a gray/white card for about $20 and is generally available even when the Kodak card is sold out.

can you provide a link for the Novatron product?

Why do you suppose the Kodak product is out of stock everywhere for so long?
