My question is for those of you who put their photos up on a website where family and friends can order what they want.
How do you advertise this? Do you pass out a business card with the info on it, do you put them on the tables, do you put them at the guest book. Do you do something completely different? If you do the card thing, what do they look like/what do they say. Do you just print some cards yourself, how many do you print, because olbviously leftovers are a waste.
Thanks to anyone who can help answer my questions,
Lally

I pass out small pieces of fine paper to all guests at the reception, with permission from the B&G.
Contains website and password, my business info

You can order business card sized "Rep. Cards" from WHCC in full color, both sides, in qty's as low as 60. You can put a full color engagement shot on one side and on the other it can say something like: "Photographs from this event will be available for viewing within this or that time from event. The password is X.
I've seen photographers hand them out or place them near the guest book. It's a smart marketing strategy since it links everyone at every event directly to you, where they can see your work.

Up until now I have simply sent a link to the B&G in an email and encourage them to share it with friends and family. This has been somewhat effective but limits the number of people that will view the photos.
At my next wedding I plan to have a slideshow playing on my laptop along with cards letting people know where to go to see the photos. I also don't make a gallery private unless it is requested. I like to keep everything open so that other people can view the photos without needing or having to remember a password. All they really have to remember is who took the pictures :D
