Need Advice on Macros...

I am looking for advice on how to shoot macros with a Canon A80.

I can figure out how but am looking for the best technique. I have a tripod but no additional lighting sorce. I am looking to macro things in nature first (bugs/flowering trees ect) and then move onto things like jewlery.

Any advice, tips, tricks people have learned are greatly welcomed.

Mark Plonsky (http://www.mplonsky.com/photo/article.htm) has done some wonderful macro work, including using a Powershot and reversed normal lens.
