Within the last couple of months I got a new "Verified by Visa" CC which replaced a non-verified regular card. I went to make an online purchase at B&H and after I went through the verification process and got back to B&H's site a popup declared the card couldn't be confirmed and to contact my bank. Same thing with a purchase at Newegg as well. The card works OK online as long as the vendor doesn't require verification or over the phone. B&H pointed the finger at my credit union who issued the card as having the problem and the credit union pointed back at B&H.

Anyone else having issues with CC's and verifications? Stressful enough making some of these purchases without added aggravation:(

Check with your card provider and see if they have a low cap on your daily limit...I went round and round over this...bank info says daily limit was $5000 order was for much less B&H couldn't verify the card...turns out the card initially was issued with a $250 daily limit...once that was fixed never had another problem.

I had the same problem. I couldn't understand why so I just called them up and placed the order. It was a debit card so now that Dan has explained it that way it makes since. You can only get so much out of a debit machine at one time. Never had a problem with large purchases before so it must be the "verified by visa" thing.

Thanks Dan for shedding some light on that.

I was totally baffled too...went into the CU and they set things straight as well as provided an explanation.

I don't think it's a spending limit but a possible safetly feature of the new card. Sometimes (especially with a new account) you have to call the the cards bank to have onlines purchases approved.

Im having the same issue, im really starting to get peeved, iv called the credit union about it and they have no idea and iv contacted B7H and awaiting a response but dont really expect a solution. Iv used the same card to buy from other stores without the verified by visa thing with no issue but thats not the case with B&H.

so whats the problem?

You are an international customer. Most American businesses are very reluctant to take international credit cards without a thorough verification process. Just their way of protecting their interests.

My Credit Union got back after digging into this and they evidently use software which is Visa DPS (Debit Processing Service) http://www.visadps.com . From what they said not all vendors are using this and there are some incompatibilities in what some vendors are using. Oddly the card didn't work at NewEgg either for verification which is one that is on the Credit Unions list of vendors. Sometime I'm going to get back to the software guy at B&H and pass this on to him to see if there's anything they can do to correct it.
I was really getting suspicious the wife did something so it wouldn't work, but she off the hook at least for now.
