I have two of them - they're made by IBM, just rebadged as Iomega's. Great deal right now, around $200 each.

They work great in my D60 (and in my previous D30 as well) - haven't had a single problem yet.

Like everything else, some have good experiences some bad. Most of the photographers I know that used them ( myself included ) have had enough bad experiences as to not use them for anything that you are geting paid for or care about. They are great for capturing lots of images, but.... they are very slow, run very hot, and if you drop or handel them incorrectly, they are toast. In short, be very careful with them.

I'll have to look around but I seem to recall seeing speed comparisions where the Microdrive was one of the top (if not the top) performers. I did notice that one of the reviews on the D60 put it in the top third with quite a few faster (I think the top was the 1Gig CF card) but for the price/speed/storage I feel it cannot be beat.
Now that may change if I ever drop it and loose all the pictures on it =)

FYI - Iomega is currently running their 340 MB microdrives for $79.95, free shipping. Just ordered one as a backup to the 1GB. Didn't realize they were fragile.
