Hey guys, I just happened upon a Canon 24mm L f/3.5 T/S lense for under $100. The first thing i must say is that it works fine. My question is, should i sell it for more, and buy some lenses that are more reasonable to what I am doing, or if i should hold on to this one. Currently i only have an XTi with the kit lens, and have been looking to upgrade ever since i got it. Now, I am a senior in High school, so dont have a whole lot of money to spend on lenses, so i figgured i could get in the range of 8-900$ for this lens and put that towards one or two decent lenses. Any suggestions on what i should do?
Thanks alot,
Neill

If you aren't going to use it then sell it to someone who will and get yourself some gear you will use.
Unless of course you're just in it to collect gear. ;)

Well im definitely not in it to just collect gear. I purchased the Xti myself at Christmas time, and Im not sure that I would use this to its full potential... Haha~ still workin on the camera. Recently I won second in a state-wide competition, however I am very much new to photography- as in within the last 6 months. Knowing this information, and in my situation, would you sell it? How much should i ask? Its going for $1200 on adorama and B&H. Also, with that amount of money what lens(es) would you recommend. I was looking at the $200 75-300mm, but would like to go with a better lens if this T/S lens really is worth what im thinking.
Thanks again!
Neill
edit: I guess another thing I am not sure about is if i were to keep the lens, what is it used for? changing the focus? I've tried to read up on it, but nothing seemed too helpful

$100 bucks? What is it hot or something? That is unbelievable!
Absolutely sell it if you think you are not going to have any uses for it. I am against collecting gear myself.

Basically it takes the slant away from a building and makes it appear how it does to our eyes.

My friend's grandma found an Xt, a nice mid rage lens, not sure, but think it was 20-85mm is, the t/s L lens, and a 70-300 usm for $300. She bought it, not knowing how much all that is worth, and gave it to my friend. Now my friend has just been walking around with all this treating it like it was a toy, and has absolutely no clue how to do anything outside of auto mode. Bah how frustrating...I tried buying the 70-300 as well, but she is planning on using it for "portraits" i was like wtf? bah oh well.

How i see it, i think i will be much better off selling it and getting a more useful lens. Now to pick one out...

Man it must have been hot for that kind of price. Personally I dont care about such stuff if I dont know but wow that was some deal for your friends grandma. That is always my dream when going to Yard Sales is finding a camera bag full of EOS stuff for little money. The TS lens costs like $1200 US new (I think) so no idea is right.
I would go for it and sell it, if it is in mint condition you can get about $200-$300 less then the B&H photo video price, if full of dust, scratches but still works then probably 50% of the B&H price. Best place to sell is here and Fred Miranda and accept PayPal.

If you buy used $900 US, assuming you get that can get a lot.
If you want to go in style with your lens choices you could get a 17-40 L and 70-200 f4 L for around $1100 US or something like that used off (gee I hate saying this) FredMiranda's used fourm and/or maybe POTN's. If you want quality and best bang for your buck and don't shoot a lot of low light (handheld) then these lenses will have you using your kit lens as a paper weight.
Anyways, pretty good deal you got there. Best of luck with it.
