Took this today, had a guy come over today (he's the husband of one of Angie's friends), and was showing him the macro setup, sans flash. He seems really keen to get a macro lens, so I let him have a play with my 1D and Sigma 150mm, he was completely taken by it. I took over the camera for one shot (wanted to make sure that I nailed this guy). Hope you enjoy.

Wonderful capture Dave- one of your best (that I've seen) The natural light works beautifully. Seems everyone has a pic of a robberfly except me :)

Marvelous capture. I know the benefits of flash with its ability to freeze motion, both camera and bug. Nevertheless, there is a beauty to natural light that is often missing when flash is used.

Thanks for the extremely nice compliments guys, very much appreciated. I quite like the shot, not sure if it's one of my best though, that certainly did make me blush! I didn't expect this shot to come out that well, or sharp, as it was taken at ISO 800, 1/100, f5.6 due to limitations of available light. I'm glad I nailed focus and that camera shake didn't rear it's ugly head, especially as it was in an awkward position.

Brian - I hope many Robberflies come your way, I'm not seeing as many of them now, but I've probably seen 300-400 in the past 2 months, which is more than my fair share!

Cheers,

Dave
