View Full Version : Sandisk Ultra II versus Extreme III?

Hey everyone,

I am going to be using the Rebel XTI and I am trying to decide if there is any reason to get the Ultra III 8 GB CF card instead of the Ultra II version.

I will at times be in extreme cold, but not too often. Will the Ultra 2 perform ok in cold (down to 15 F or so)?

Will I see a real performance difference between the two with a Rebel XTI?

Thanks for your help!
Scott

You mean Extreme III? or has SanDisk upgraded the Ultra line now? Biggest diference will be during downloads via card reader; you may notice an improvement in buffer-clearing if you often fill yours. Here's live test results on the 350D (http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-7699).

Thanks Jon. Yeah, I meant the "Extreme" III and as I see by the test that you posted, there is little difference out in the field.

You think low temp will affect the Ultra II? Sandisk does not say, or I did not find it on their site.

Thanks again!

I doubt that you need to be concerned about the cards getting cold; your batteries will start to fade long before at those temperatures.
