Just curious if anyone will be shooting the festival in April. It would be quite an opportunity as Rage Against The Machine is performing(!!).

I'll shoot it if someone puts me on a plane and gives me credentials! Plenty more good stuff on the bill too... RATM are but one small part.

The traffic is always unreal while the festival is going on. I live just a couple miles from there, but make it a point to stay as far away from the traffic as possible. I guess that means I won't be seeing Rage Against the Machine.

It should be a field day for Concert shooters...I know area fairs draw millions of visitors...sounds like a perfect opportunity for capturing some music gigs.

Here in the north eastern US :
For 9 days in early August, we are having a "Musicfest" in Bethlehem, PA...Acts from all over the country will be here.

Especially with RATM reuniting, that is going to be an enormous draw.

It's an enormous draw regardless of whether RATM reform or not... it's usually a sell out. The Stooges reforming for it a few years back would have been a lot bigger draw!

I would have thought you'd be their biggest fan....

coachella usually seems to have a decent lineup, but this year's seems decidedly weak. i'm 3K miles away anyway, so it really has no bearing on me.

plus, i think i'm too old for festivals. ;)

I wanted to shoot this show so bad. I've tried to make contact with the organizers to shoot for them, but I've heard that it is nearly impossible to get credentials for the festival. I've heard that some national mags can't even get credentials.

Cameras are allowed into the festival, but they do state that no "professional" cameras are allowed. They at least clarify what "professional" means, by stating that it is any camera with removable lenses.

If anybody has (2) Sunday tickets that they want to sell me for face value, let me know.

that's one helluva lineup. you'll get some incredible shots of those bands. they like to "perform" for the audience and the camera!

That's pretty standard for big events/festivals.

There are a couple of festivals I get credentials for where they limit the number of photo passes for the weekend to 5 in total.

The festivals are a business...there had better be a good reason for wanting to take pictures at their event, before they even deal with you... than they get first dabs at shooting anyway... It's best to be family or do lots of business with the festival owners...

I was part of a small ownership group... owners of one of the very biggest resorts in the region... With three large convention areas and auditoriums... we could host major events, either on our 5000 acre property or in house... Even I had issues with my ownership Family and partnerships, regarding access to the performing stars...
Besides, the stars wanted TV coverage not press media... Celebrities have pictures coming out of their ears, they usually need more, like a hole in the head... At least that's what is commonly said by their families and management... So it's always going to be an uphill battle...
