You know how to make a guy famous.
If all our nature photo guys would read the sticky post (Critique Forum) they would see that I am trying to keep a low profile with my G2 while am trying to make you wildlife guys & dolls with the 400mm lens win !
But they let me sneak in with a landscape! Thanks CDS... you made my day!

Thanks Ferdinand ... I am just OK ... not great ... but getting better with a G2 that has depreciated about 50% since I bought it!
The contest is open to the world -- pick your best and submit. See our sticky Post at the top of this Critique Forum.

Well thanks ! Autumn is filled with color here. If you can select a subjectr its simple P & S. These creeks and hills are everywhere.. but you have (in most cases) to bring rubber boots or waterproof hikers.

TY. Now you have the South African images. Select and go for it -- and see our "Prep" post = "Sticky Post" at the top of this Critique Forum.
I warn you that (as we speak) my wife is on safari in SA. Unfortunatey she is new to camera's and a lion thru her P & S will likely be quite tiny. If is were big, camera shake would have blurred the shot.

Congrats Howie. An absolutely awesome picture.

Thanks you very much.
Our Gatiineau Hills are on a smaller scale than your Laurentians. But that scale can help to fill a frame in interesting ways. Here, for example, the background begins 100-200 yards or so away. That makde this framing quite natural. By noon the haze was gone.

Well Howie, you certainly have an eye for the color! Everyone can shoot pictures but not everyone can be a photographer!

Thanks Ferdinand, Chuch and Shakey
I hope that you have been looking over the tips that you may link to in the 1st entry on the above "Sticky". We want you to WIN or PLACE or SHOW (HONORABLE MENTION) in this Wildlife Photo Club contest. For that reason, we are trying to get members to reflect on the challenges and competition w.r.t. wildlife photography. Ants or antelopes !
The nest step is to invite a pro into to give up an hour to comment on YOUR best images. Problem is ... I have had no response from two pros to whom I sent "solicitations". Once I get a volunteer (any suggestions?) we will ask keeners (say about 10 members) to submit images for an on-forum critique -- not a contest.
Meanwhile, I submitted some G2 images of herons and landscapes to this contest and was delighted to be " the featured artist !" site for a few days.
Thanks guys.

IAN and MARIE
Great to receive your high praise on this far side ot the Atlantic
* Ian, the contest's core is really wildlife, but they do accept landscapes. But all images to be free of any human footprint. Happily, the Gatineau Hills are filled with hidden lakes and streams -- and mosquitos! That's why we all travel the Britain/Ireland to photo crofts and sheep dogs! (Your "yellow sky" remains an outstanding image.) I posted a blue sky below !
* Marie, I don't know how you are able to offer all of us so much original and warm praise. The 17th is just around the corner ! I hear that after 100 years Dublin is onto Ulysses ! Last nite it was the Three Irish Tenors out of Belfast -- now that is part of our Western-Irish Heritage that we all cherish. Let the concert begin.
PS:
I saw my first flock of Canada Geese arriving from the USA yesterday morning. Apparently they follow highways, etc. The snow is not too deep on the corn fields and temperatures hover around freezing.
PPS:
Here is a GOOSE from last Spring. He's heading back to the Ottawa River as dusk is about to fall. Plus a sunset taken on the same shoot.
