so this last pic is somewhat special because out of the 500 or so shots i have taken at various shows of this band this is the FIRST one i've ever gotten of the drummer. he is usually back behind people and blocked but this time there was a nice wide stage so he had a good spot for me to get him from :]

Connor, you need to check a lot of other work out in this section, to give you an better idea of what to look for...and how to present your photos here...
I like the drummer pic, while two golden pics of the lady on the piano, take away from your set, one would be enough...She must have been too far from you and ended up as a grainy/loud pic...
Since you didn't number the individual photos, it's difficult to comment on them...you need to make this set presentation easy for us to look at, as time is valuable and we don't have much of it to spare...
You made a whole hearted attempt at taking these photos, and it takes time to nail it every time...
How much memory do you have for your camera? Try to use it all up at every event you shoot...
Keep shooting and posting here...be patient and read all you can here...ask questions and comment on other's work... feedback is important to you, ask questions and you will learn more from us...

alright, thanks for the help, wish i could say the same for the other guy but oh well. i'll try numbering my photos next time, only the second set i've ever put up so i'm still working on presentation.
i've got 2 gigs of CF but i never even fill up one of the gig sticks. i can fit some 320 shots on each and shooting that much at an hour long show doesn't make sense to me since i take time to enjoy the music as best i can too.
i do make an effort to comment on others work too, thanks for the help

i wish i could say you had some sense of appreciation of others instead of thinking only of you're own needs.
i mean, geez, you're so self-absorbed and serious about yourself that you couldn't even get a laugh out of realizing that you're competing against the super bowl for attention.
i actually, had taken a break from the super bowl to check on the forum and was going to comment, until i saw you already pining about why people haven't commented and doing so after only 45 minutes on one of the biggest tv and friends gathering events of the year does not make a favorable impression.
i or no one else here is at "your beck and call." if you can only think me me me, now now now, why won't anybody pay attention to me me me ... then why should anybody care about you.
serious, totally civil ... please explain why anyone should care about you if you have no regard for the time and life of others?
you want a tip that will help you ... here's one - i dare you to find me someone on the forum that disagrees:
if you want to build the relationships and credibility you will need to have promoters wanting you to shoot their concerts and willing to pay ... then don't come across with the attitude and resent that you for not being "catered to" like you did here.

actually, there was about 16 hours in between my posts. I posted that at 2:14 in the morning on Friday night.... i'm not begging for anyone's attention, i am just looking for criticism and help, not useless sarcasm i could get anywhere and not on a photo forum.

uselessness .... sounds like you're getting what you're giving, so the trade is fair.

Boys: Relax.
I like the last-but-one. (Please edit the first post to insert numbers).
#3 and 4 are too much alike. Problem is I like cropping on #3 better, but the head is behind the mic. Expression and timing is better on 4, but crop is worse...

Connor, don't you worry...CanonTXuser is going through what is typically known in western Pennsylvania as Football Fever...he's local to the homes of the greatest football stars, including Star Quarterbacks like Dan Marino, Joe Namath, Jim Kelly, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Bernie Kosar, and other famous legends like Mike Ditka and many many others...So to him and everyone around, the super bowl rules over everything...
Pennsylvania Football is like "David Beckham" is to soccer in England...there is no possible way to tear anyone away from the TV set when they play ball.
I'm certain, he's gotten over it by now...It just gives you an idea of how passionate and competitive this section can get regarding concert photography...
Stay with the program, keep taking pictures and post here...

I understand ... I sometimes only get 700 frames in first three songs but I am using two or three bodies. Just keep shooting and sharing and ignoring the detractors ... and keep in mind that there are some fabulous concert shooters on here and it is impossible to compete with them ... I have given up trying, sigh.

Lol. John's right conner.
I should have put a :D after my last post as the spirit is half wise ass and half tongue in cheek like the first one.
My orig. comment was to your post during the super bowl wondering "nothing". I honestly did not see your thread previous to yesterday when I stopped in during the sup bowl.
I will look back later, I have to run out for an appointment. I would encourage you to spend time checking out others and don't be afraid to ask them what they do to get a particular shot.

1 and 3 are your closest to perfection yet have serious flaws also.
the face is very sharp in these, looks like your sharpest pics out of the bunch, yet the pics have blown highlights and feel /look dark ... at the same time. not something I ever encountered.
highlights blown on drummer pic also. pics of the keyboardists have sharp keyboards and even backgrounds but soft people. makes me wonder if you sacrificed speed for depth of field.
would have to see your specs to advise more or have raw file to see if could process better.
your best pic is the guitarist sitting. not the sharpest or the brightest but is solid in these areas and has a good vibe to it.

i agree. maybe not the best focus or lighting, but definitely the best 'feel' of them all.
keyboard stands are a pain in the arse. hate 'em.
