I got a couple big prints from ezprints.
Looks very nice, but I have a question.
When printing via web should I assign certain
ICC profile to my downloaded pictures or not?
Printing services may assign ICC profiles by
themself but may not as well - I don't know.

Ezprints told me not to embbed a profile when I sent mine in and they came out nice and the customer loved them.

I've not used EZ Print for anything bigger than 11x14, mostly 8x10 and 8x12 and I've been assigning AdobeRGB to the images. When I talked to them they didn't mention leaving them as untagged images, although I didn't ask that question specificly. They did say that they do not do any correction or changes to the images, so you have to be sure everything is the way you want it to be printed.

I noticed some of my prints had been coming back darker than I wanted although color seemed to be correct. I recently got a chance to use a Spyder to calibrate my monitor and I found that I had the intensity cranked way up. Once I adjusted the lum to within the specs, it took me awhile to get use to the darker screen, but I've noticed my prints now come out closer to what I see on the screen.

EZ Print isn't a custom lab, but they are cheap and fast and do decent work, at least from the stuff I've done through them so far.

I believe AdobeRGB is the color space, not an ICC profile. I'm still trying to get all that down.

My files were in the AdobeRGB, but they did not have an ICC profile embedded.

Actually, prints I made from them are too dark as well.
I don't think it is the matter of the screen - I looked
at my pictures on many monitors - they are more or less
the same, but prints are definitely darker than normal.

I received a metallic print from them and I thought it was darker than usual and after reading this it makes sense.

Perhaps it just semantics, but to clarify, NEVER assign a profile. (unless you really know what you are doing.)
