I tried a lot of different papers in my Canon iP4000 and determined that the Canon Photo Pro paper gave the best results. but it was worth trying other papers.

I use Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl and Epson Luster...absolutely love it. It has a good feel to it...the color is awesome on it...it has a little kick, but nothing as bright as gloss...which I personally don't like.
For Matte, I use Epson Enhanced Matte...but I almost always print on the Ilford or Luster...btw, my printer is an Espon R2400.

Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl - tried and true - the best.

What Ilford has going for it is that they have taken the time to make profiles for their printers. Download (http://www.ilford.com/html/us_english/prod_html/galerie/IJProfiles/default.asp) the one for your printer and use their paper and you're set. I use Galerie Smooth Pearl.

For my personal prints, I use nothing but Ilford Smooth Pearl. It's just the best there is, plain and simple. I use Ilford for all prints though, just other finishes, depending on what the customer wants. Any of their Gallerie papers are fantastic, and as someone said, they're nice enough to provide profiles for your printer for that paper. Wonderful. My prints always come out just perfect.

This thread is kind of useless unless you mention your PRINTER and paper choice. Specific printers definately print better to some papers than others. ;)
