I am considering buying a MR14 EX Macrolite as I want to experiment with some insect photography. I have a Tamron 90mm Macro lens attached to a 10D. Will this unit fit and work well? I have read (somewhere) that the Macrolite is only compatible with some lens.
Advice would be very much appreciated.

Steve,
Fear not the MR14EX does fit on the Tamron 90mm, but....
You need to buy a filter stepping ring and a Canon ring which the flash unit clips on to.
The Canon Macro lenses have the necessary fittings built around the filter mount.
I used the setup you are thinking of and it works perfectly - sorry I don't have the necessary sizes and part numbers handy, if I ind them out I will post back later.

Hi Steve - and anyone else needing this info.,
The parts you need are:
