another how much do I charge post.

I was wondering how much a standard studio photographer charges. I'm just doing a few photo's for a friend, I am charging $10 per hour for the shoot and post processing (if needed) and $3 for every photo...

NB: They are just being used on the net.

is this cheap or expensive?

You are under valuing your work way too much. I would suggest that you find some of the websites for persons working in your area and see what they are charging and then come in somewhere around the median rates.

You can't be making much money at these rates.

True... I don't usually shoot studio stuff, it's kinda a one off for a friend, But they still want to pay a reasonable rate. She has over 500 photo's to be taken so I didn't want to get to pricey.

I thought I would get some idea's of how much it cost for this sort of thing before putting a quote on the table.

$10 an hour? That's below minimum wage!

Make it $20-25 per hour for the shoot at a VERY minimum, plus photo editing as a time factor, another say $20 per hour.

You'll find a lot of studio people will have sitting fees of $100-500, and high print prices.

Friends or not, there's not much point in slaving yourself. You may deserve some more.

You could also charge at just a day rate, a day for the shoot and extra day/s for PP.

I was also wondering about how much to charge for product shots. This at least gave me an idea for the range to charge.

I'll be taking 12-18 shots per product. Then image sequence them in Quicktime Pro so the client can have them as a movie file so they can view a total 360 degrees of the product.

Thinking about $70 - $80 an hour since there will be like 15 products and plus the time for me to process them.

Sounds good?

V. cheap.....i got a name for myself as being a cheap photographer and now i am known i still get people saying "Hey i heard you did a wedding for $300" well sorry lady i know what i am doing now, you aint gonna get me for $300 an hr LOL so dont make the same mistake i made...its hard to get your name back once it is known as CHEAP! Because your photos are not crap right?
The studio i worked for did a 15 min shoot, 3 seperate poses, and about 4 shots on each pose, then you can buy the pack for $280. 3-8x10's 3-5x7's and 6 wallets also a comp postcard size...this way they are paying for you time and they get some hard copies out of it ($59 extra for the CD of high res images)
