I read a few threads about cleaning lenses and filters with special fluids--safe for coated lenses, lenspens and blower brushes. Here's a couple of questions:

Assuming one holds the can upright, why not remove particles from lenses with canned air? Should be fine, right?

I have a promaster 77mm UV filter; no matter what I do I can't clean that sucker. Do some manufactueres' products clean more readily than others?

Different filters respond differently to lens cleaning fluids. My regular Hoya multicoated filters are OK with Kodak lens cleaner. The Hoya HMC and SHMC filters and the B+W's are very problematic. I had to resort to cleaning them with water and drying them with microfibre cloth, otherwise there was absolutely no way of getting the colored streaks off them. These days I resort to water and soap! Works darn well.

Just a plain eye-glass cleaner. Costco sells the fluid and will refill the bottles for free!
