Alright, so a couple nights ago was my first time ever shooting at a concert. During the show I played around with a lot of the settings to see what works best. I took a lot of pics, but here's a few that I liked out of them. I tried to post some of all the band members, so some aren't as strong as the other images that I have saved, but I still like them. Remember I'm just learning this, and on Friday I'll have a chance to be up on stage with my friends band to take shots of them, so help me out and give me some tips. Also keep in mind I could not change where I was standing during this show because I was with friends primarily, and didn't want to ditch them.

Alright, here goes, all shots taken with the 50mm f/1.4:

1 ) Av 1.4, Tv 1/1000, ISO 800

#3, 4, 6 and 8 are very nice. Pity about the blown channels an noise reduction (I think) on some.
Some could be cropped a *bit* tighter ( for instance the last: Crop off the light 'bits' on the bottom and right.)

I realy like the strong, positive compostion, colors included...very good set...

The 50mm 1.4 is excellent for what it does with stage photography...It's one of my fav lens of choice.

yeah, the frozen breath mist makes 6 and 8 very unique rock shots.

just curious, why'd you shoot wide open @ f/1.4 the whole time? looks like you had enough light to stop down a bit.

Well, I wanted to make sure I was able to shoot at a high shutter speed, since they were moving (and I was shaking) quite a bit. I stopped down to f/2 and f/2.8 during parts of the show, but none of them happened to be my favourite shots.

Thanks again for the comments :)

Now wait a minute...

you were shaking cause you sneaked
the camera in and your concience was bothering you?
or
You
were drinking a lot of coffee that night?
or
Outside it's ten
below zero as usual this time of year.
or
In the excitement of the moment, you couldn't stop shaking.

Or it's just a
combination of two and three.

Or is it just three and four.

Aren't fast lenses great?...they even get rid of our shakes.

I was shaking from a deadly combination of caffeine, the -20 C and lower temperatures (with wind chill), and excitment.

There wasn't a need to sneak the camera into the area (or at least...if there was...I accidentally did a good job  )

edit: and yes, LOVE fast lenses! :D

the -20 C and lower temperatures (with wind chill),

So, the singer is really under a white light, and blue from the cold?

Me too...need the caffeine to stay in the "program" especially if the band is mediocre...besides, these shows go well into the night...and by the time you get home, you still need to stay awake and check your work...I get a better night's sleep if I know the results from the show...

Sneaking the camera in was just a joke...would hate to see you have troubles with the venue next time, and forever...

But the fastest primes, is a real positive issue, and fast zooms are cool too...

So, the singer is really under a white light, and blue from the cold?

And yet, there is a lot of warm mysticism in these blue, dark blue and white images...

hehe, yep, caffeine to make sure I had the energy to stand in the cold for the show.

thanks for the comments :)

This was your first time shooting a show??

You were shaking from the combined effects of cold and caffiene??

And you ended up with results like this, after your first time?

Man, I hate guys like you!!

Dude, very, very well done...
