I've had an idea for a new fun thread buzzing round my head for a while now so I think it's time to start it.

The idea is to post a picture that illustrates a line from a song. It does not have to be the title, but unless it is a very well known song please do quote or link to a reference.

Here's one to get you started. I think "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" is fairly universal ;)

Kind words for the crazed! A celebration grimace in honor of an exceptionally challenging catch. I was counting coup after overcoming errant currents extreme distance and a very educated quarry. The feeding window for this lie was very tiny, tight to the bank and fraught with contrary surface currents between us caused by the rock garden where he resided during rest periods. A fine leader, difficult long cast and then control of excessive line to produce a drag free float through a tiny window succeeded where others went wanting. Of course the right fly was also necessary. A very satisfying fish that I hope will be as difficult this year as last…

Nice shots, everyone, and great links to the songs :D

Wally, I used to go fly fishing with my father many years ago and I can relate to that feeling from his reactions. I never had the patience or the skill to make the catches. Mind you, the fly fishing was mostly on reservoirs, on rivers it was with spinners so there was not often the currents to contend with as you describe, except when he went fly fishing on the Scottish rives for salmon.

Happy memories though :)

Here's another from me to keep you going...
From Kenneth Grahame's 'The Wind In The Willows'

'DUCKS' DITTY.'
All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall,
Ducks are a-dabbling,
Up tails all!

Ducks' tails, drakes' tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver,
Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river!

Slushy green undergrowth
Where the roach swim--
Here we keep our larder,
Cool and full and dim.

Everyone for what he likes!
WE like to be
Heads down, tails up,
Dabbling free!

High in the blue above
Swifts whirl and call--
WE are down a-dabbling
Up tails all!

Bob Dylan- If you see her say hello

If you see her say hello she might be in Tangier
She left here last early spring is living there I hear
Say for me that I'm all right though things get kind of slow
She might think that I've forgotten her don't tell her it isn't so.

If you get close to her kiss her once for me
I always have respected her for doing what she did and getting free
Oh whatever makes her happy I won't stay in the way
Though the bitter taste still lingers on from the night I tried to make her stay.

I'm a little teapot
Short and stout
Here is my handle
And here is my spout.

When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
Just tip me over
And pour me out.

I have often walked down this street before
But the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before
All at once am I several stories high
Knowing I'm on the street where you live

I'm currently getting through lyrics of my favorite artists and some of my photo to find some links... The most obvious is "Sweet Caroline" -> my fiancée Caroline, but I have no good portraits of her! I'll keep on looking and try to be back with something...

Gray skies are gonna clear up
Put on a happy face
Wipe of the clouds and cheer up
Put on a happy face

Take off the gloomy mask of tragedy
It's not your style
You'll look so good that you'll be glad
That you decided to smile

Pick out a pleasant outlook
Stick out that nobel chin
Wipe off that full of doubt look
Snap on a happy grin

Spread sunshine all over the place
And just put on a happy
Put on a happy face

Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know I think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
It's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Oh, put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be Centerfield.

Josh Turner, "The Long Black Train"

There's a long black train comin' down the line,
Feeding off the souls that are lost and cryin'.
Rails of sin, only evil remains.
Watch out, brother, for that long black train.
Look to the heaven's, you can look to the sky.
You can find redemption staring back into your eyes.
There is protection and there's peace the same:
Burnin' your ticket for that long black train.

'Cause there's victory in the Lord, I say.
Victory in the Lord.
Cling to the Father and his Holy name,
And don't go ridin' on that long black train.

There's an engineer on that long black train,
Makin' you wonder if the ride is worth the pain.
He's just a-waitin' on your heart to say:
"Let me ride on that long black train."

Wow!! thank you!! I have to admit, I shot that train about 5 years ago with 400 ISO FILM on a manual Minolta X700!!
I developed it in my darkroom, with dodging the smoke.
I scanned it recently cuz its been hanging on my wall, and i have long since lost the negative!!!

Thanks again for the kind words!! When I found this thread, my eyes went right up to the frame on the wall, and I thought- wow, what a great fit!!!!!
