Canon Malaysia release (http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BT/Monday/Nation/BT596356.txt/Article/)
Even if you count the point and shoot, video and DSLR's, this is alot of cameras in one year.

Great find.
I have to admit, I am also rather curious about the high-end Canon printers that might be announced.

Not only those. Canon has a lot of product lines: Copiers, printers, Displays, Broaddcasting, etc
Have a look at: Canon Products (http://www.canon.com/technology/canon_tech/category/products.html)
Really we all conform us with a 5% in DSRLīs :) :) :)

Juan is right (and I wasn't clear in my post)...
This is announcing 100 new products across all product lines... not 100 new camera-related products. (bodies, lenses, accessories, etc).

with 100 new products total theres a good chance that a few of them will be DSLRs (if its 5% as Juan said than that would be about 5)

Oh... I'm POSITIVE they will be announcing new DSLR cameras at PMA 2007. It simply makes good business sense for them to announce the new cameras now. I'm still stunned they didn't do this last August, but now I am wondering if it was because they needed a few more months of rebates to clear old stock from the shelves.
I'm guessing we will see the following
1. 1D Mark III (merging of 1Ds MKII and 1D MKIIn)
2. 5D Mark II
3. 40D
4. Miscellaneous P&S's
I'm just waiting... as soon as the 1D and 5D bodies are available from my dealer, I'm going to select one and buy it THAT DAY. LOL

100 products will be a combination of
EOS DSLRs
P&S
Printers
Scanners
Video cams
EF lenses
and their business line of products.

I'd be very surprised if Canon announced new P&S cameras since they just released a whole new line in the fall. What could they improve on in such a short time?
I'm pretty sure the DSLRs will get an update.

Sometimes it seems like the P&S lifespan is less than the DSLRs - They announced some new models in the fall, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the older models upgraded at PMA.

While It would seem like dreaming of the impossible for so many upgrades announced at the same time....if Canon is indead going to announce a new sensor type, and market it as superior to the the sensors in its current cameras....that would certainly put a big damper on the sale of older cameras...so why not do a clean sweep and refresh the whole line at once!

Have Fun,
i agree, especially the elphs, seems like they will replace a body that already replaces another new body that just came out in the same exact batch, they seem to get P&S crazy sometimes. I definitly would like to see something to replace the Pro1 though.

Just a gut feel, but with what they did from the G6 to the G7 (no raw, reduced max aperture, etc) I think they are trying to keep the digicams from encroaching on the low-end DSLRs, and I don't think they will be producing anything like the Pro1 anytime soon. :(

you know that article says
"100 new models in all product categories this year" for Canon Malaysia.
this is not Canon Worldwide. so this could mean new cameras/printers and other devices.
It could also mean that they are releasing other products sold else where with in this market.

That's not just cameras: cameras, printers, scanners, binoculars, lenses, maybe even medical equipment in there too. :)
