Hi all im new to this forum and to Digital photograhy... Im lookin @ getting a new camera as I am quite keen in this field but want to make a good start. I was lookin @ the Canon Digital Camera Powershot A300 3.2mp 16MB USB and wondered what peeps thought of this camera ???

I've read some very good reviews about it, but wonder if there is a huge difference in getting a camera with an optical zoom?? It does seem very good and other cameras i've looked @ that have a optical zoom dont seem to be as good.

If any one could offer advice i would be greatfull

I'd avoid the A300. It's kinda cheap feeling. Yeah, the image quality is very good (it's got a Canon lens), but it's the botton of the PowerShot line. I would recommend spending a bit more an getting one of the new PowerShot models being released in April 2004. See http://www.powershot.com for the new cameras
