I saw a few examples of "Smoke Art" while cruising the forums here and ran right out to get some incense. Figured the least I could do is share the results since the idea originated here (at least for me).
Let me know what you think...
2 types of incense (= 2 colors)

Hope these aren't too big.

These are gorgeous, and a fantastic 1st post!

I particularly like the second photo; what lens/settings did you use?

I'm definately going to have to try this, too! Nice work.

Thanks Carbohydrate, I was using the 17-40L, f/16 at 1/200 - 1/250/s. It's cheap and easy fun when it's cold outside.;)

These are lovely. I only used one stick of incense for mine, but I like that two color look. Might have to have another go of it tonight. :)

Thanks Athena, in this case it was one stick and one cone, offset slightly but directly under the stick.

Oooo - the cone ones. I don't have any of those (mentally considers where to buy them - lol) :)

Nice job .. I too was fooling around with it last night but wasn't happy with my images OOF ... I will have to try it again tonight at a higher shutter speed. I was using just a halogen worklight to camera right and ..yes only a single stick. We should rename this Forum to "The Best Smelling Forum on POTN"

started off looking at them thinking how could i recreate them without smoking, nice choice with the insents

did you do these in the dark with a flash or just photoshop the background?

Thanks Ransom. It wasn't dark, I just used a black background approximately 3 ft behind the incense with the flash set to one side roughly 45 degrees from the camera. I used some black poster board on either side of the flash to direct it primarily at the smoke and keep it from lighting the background (or glaring on the lens).
