Hmmm. Try the creative zone settings, you'll be able to select Raw then.
The earth don't look too greene right now.

Yes the Drebel has a "P", and the reason that we don't have RAW capabilites in the non-creative zones, is that Canon feels that shooting RAW is for the more advance user. In otherwards they think that if we are not using the creative modes, we don't need RAW. But I have seen plenty of examples on this site of very good High JPEG shots from the Drebel, so don't feel forced into using a mode that you are not ready for just so you can shoot RAW. Take your time and learn the camera.

I guess Canon, in their infinite wisdom, figured that if one is too gun-shy to try shooting in the creative mode, then he also might be too gun-shy to try shooting in RAW mode as well. After all, shooting in RAW mode does require a certain amount of commitment in time and effort to process the RAW images.
And, while we're in the topic, I want to relate an amusing story that happened to me the other day when I went to pick up my 10D from the Canon repair center in NJ. After I got the camera back, I spent a couple of minutes in the parking lot taking pictures of geese and ducks just to make sure that the camera was working right. Then I fiddled with the menu to set everything back to the way how I liked it since it had been reset to the factory setting after they worked on it.
First thing I noticed was that they upgraded my firmware to the latest version. Then when I went to set my custom functions, it was nowhere to be found. I must have scrolled through the menu about 10 times looking for it. Then I noticed that I couldn't set the camera to RAW mode, only JPEG. "Huh! Did they mess something up with the new firmware?", I thought to myself. I was just about ready to walk back into the building to complain when it dawned on me that they had also set the camera to the "green box" setting!

Thats the point of me shooting RAW, I want to learn the camera and what its capabilities are... I refuse to set it to full auto and shoot... And its digital, so it wont cost me a penny to process or buy film.
The best way to learn about something is to try it for yourself... What do I have to lose except time, and sanity....LOL
