hello,

How long should a Canon BP-511A battery last? I don't mean in between charges, but it's overall lifespan. I've had mine now for about 18 months, it used to last sometimes for 2 days! Now I'm lucky if I get 15 mins from a full charge! Is that about right? I am not shooting in any odd or extreme conditions nor am I using a lot of flash. I'm using a 20D.
Is it time to buy a replacement?
If so does anyone recommend a good supplier of non-canon batteries (as they are cheaper)- I live in the UK.

Thanks for any help

sounds about right to me. You can buy what everyone will reccommend here which are sterlingtech batteries, but i bought some off ebay and they have been working great.

My BP-511 for my D60's still doing pretty well after a bit over 4 years.

From the Sterlingtech website: ... (battery) will begin to lose the ability to charge in approximately 2-3 years, this is due to a breakdown of the chemicals that make up the battery.
