Sept. 21-23 at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. I'm planning to be there at least Friday and Saturday. Anyone else want to start planning?

Not likely for me - but a favor, perhaps?

I understand they have a WWII B-26 Bomber on display there - any images would be greatly appreciated.

Have Fun,

Got to - so I can get off before someone else asks for the same dates.

They do . . . last time I photographed it I was using film though. Last time I was out there I was concentrating on the P-47 and the 9th AF exhibit; Ann's got a second cousin whose husbands were 9th AF Jug pilots. Don's still around, we thought he'd be interested.

I live in Cincinnati so I don't see any reason I can't make it. I haven't been to the Airforce museum in a few years.

I just put it on my calendar... Sounds like fun to me. I might invite my dad to join us (he shoots with Nikon equipment, but we can forgive him for that...right?)

Jon, how much organizing are you planning on doing? Common Hotel, or just a meeting place each day? There is a very nice hotel about 15 minutes away from the base whose rates are reasonable (~$79 per night).

Let me know, I'll be glad to help out if you need it. I live in Columbus, Dayton is about a 75 minute drive, and I could easily make a trip or two if necessary ahead of time.

I figure just meeting there - I expect that most attendees wil be locals, but thanks for the offer. Obviously I'm not local, but . . . Last time I stayed just off 70 at the Courtyard on I-75 and it was an easy shot over to the base. 202/Needmore/Harshman Rd. drops you off right outsid the museum.

Sounds good. Like I said, it is on my calendar. I will watch this posting for more details...

Yes they are, per the Air Force Museum calendar and the Great War Aeroplanes Association (http://www.gwaero.org/horizon.html).

Actually these are the dates of the WWI era planes show which per the link provided will include Full size as well as radio controlled scaled airplanes.

The Dayton Air Show (complete with more modern aircraft, the Thunderbirds and the Brazilian Air Force air show team) is July 28 - 29, see http://www.daytonairshow.com/home.html.

I am planning to be at both. I love RC planes, and those old planes and the restoration work that goes into them is admirable to say the least. Well worth the 75 minute drive for me!

OK - I'm going to be at both Dawn Patrol and Gathering of Mustangs and Legends (http://www.gml2007.com/) in Columbus (all 4 days) the next weekend. We'll be sight-seeing in Columbus between the shows. Look for the grey Domke (usually), or maybe a navy one loaded with aircraft patches.

It's next week. Will I see anyone there? Or at Mustangs & Legends the following weekend?

I, unfortunately just learned earlier this week that I am going to have to travel on business next weekend to New Jersey...

I will be in town however for Mustangs & Legends. However, the weekend is full of activities for the kids.

Friday night is HS Varsity Football night in Ohio, so I'll be at a stadium hoping to see my boy on the field. (He is primary kicker for JV and backup for Varsity). Saturday I will be at the JV football game in the morning, and then my youngest has a soccer game right in the middle of the day at 1 PM, so I will probably come out after his game.

What time are you going to be starting at the Museum?

I expect to be at Dawn Patrol (around back of the museum) all day both Saturday and Sunday. I hope to arrive early enough to have a look-in on Friday afternoon as well, but that depends on how soon I can get the wife moving.
