Is there, anywhere, a list of good online places to be able to rent glass from? I have one I had seen on here before, but wanted to see what else what out there.

Thanks for the response. That's the one place I have bookmarked, but think there are a couple others out there people have talked about. Did a search and couldn't find 'em. I'm hoping to bookmark several more!

There is also:
Penn Camera (DC area),
PPR Atlanta (Atlanta, GA)
Caulmet (they at least advertise they do in Pop Photo)
I have good experience with PPR Atlanta and they have some of the more expensive glass.
I have had good recomendations for both rentglass.com and Penn Camera.
I am also fairly sure their should be rental shops in NY, NY and Rochester, NY areas.
Also try google "lens rental" that is how I originally found PPR Atlanta.

I've just used LensProToGo and was very happy with the lens and the fabulous customer service by Paul (I spoke to him twice on the phone, very personable). Shipping was fast, packaging was easy to deal with (Pelican case). Will definitely use in the future!

Strangely enough, I was referred by LensRentals:
http://www.lensrentals.com
which also looks like a great place to rent from. I called up LensRentals.com,
and they were out of stock for the lens I needed, so he recommended that I call Paul and gave me his number. Apparently, they're two competitors that have a friendly business relationship. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either based on my experience.
Also LensRentals has a nice guarantee (from their website):
"OUR 2-IN-2 GUARANTEE: Give us 2 weeks notice for a 2 week rental and we guarantee its available – even if we have to buy a new copy to make it happen."

this thread is old and i was searching for some rentals so i did a search and found this thread.
allow me to add so that if anyone else in the future is looking, they can find this list
http://www.adoramarentals.com/Home.aspx
if you go to adorama and rent on thursday evening, you get to keep the lenses for the whole weekend. why? because friday they close at 1:00pm. saturday they are closed. sunday they are closed. so you pay for one day, and get it for like 3+ days.
im on my way to pick up some lenses now.

I vouch too! Kevin will work with you on the date(s) you need it, not to mention good prices. I also think he is shipping giottos rocket blowers with each lens so you can clean your sensor. How convenient. :)

borrowlenses.com, also on here, but kinda far from you, local to me. Next weekend might be a big lens rental, 3 soccer games on tap.

I have used borrowlenes.com, Rentglass.com, and lensrentals.com. Rentglass is deffinately my favorite but it can be hard to get the lens you want. The best thing to do is check the site about 5:30pm est that seems to be about the time he is re-inventorying the lens that came back that day. The others have the ability to reserve the lens you want if you give enough notice. All these services have been great rentglass has be the most user friendly in my opinion.

I am a new photo buff and really into my new Canon. I've been trying out a number of lenses and found Photolensrental.com to offer great lens rental service and value. The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS is a amazing lens and great for sporting events and nature shots. I think I am going to buy that one and use Photolensrental.com to supplement my other needs.

I'll vouch for rentglass.com. I rented a 400 5.6 from them earlier this year, lens and service were great.

So, the purpose of resurrecting this old thread is to ask the question, who do you rent lenses from now?
Local info for Rochester, NY would be great as would anything from anyone who is happy with a company.
Thanks!

the only place i know locally (in Rochester) is Hahn Photographic.
And their selection isn't the best for rentals.
Unless you are an RIT student of course.
i use www.cameralensrentals.com for almost every event i shoot. Barry is great to work with.

Thank you Mitch. Local wisdom is especially appreciated. I've not heard of Hahn. I wonder if it would matter to them if some of my work is shown at an RIT gallery/shop? Probably not!
I will look into the cameralens as well as lensrental.
