The girl I shoot with just redid our website, and these are the pictures I chose to put on the front page.
10D, either 100/2@2 or 70-200/2.8IS@2.8, iso800, various ss - can't find exif data, sorry. No cropping, some color editing w/ PS5.5. Top five were indoors, last three were outdoors. This is my third year shooting concerts. If possible, I'd like input on composition. Thanks for letting me post these here.

Edie Brickell's music is real interesting...I'm glad you have her pic to post here...Her husband went to my sister HS.
Thanks for sharing Jennifer.

nice captures. i think your composition is pretty good. maybe just a tad tight. #7 isn't your sharpest, but i like the angle. welcome to the forum.

hey, jennifer, nice shots...here's my take on yr composition, as requested:
1 - not bad, but his fingertips are cut off, and the background guy/mic to the right is a bit of a distraction
2 - good. plenty of space around 'em. might have given the guy's foot a touch more space
3 - excellent (though a bit overexposed)...great moment and you can see the faces well.
4 - classic singer w/ gtr in the bokeh...i'm a sucker for these types of shots. the snapping finger is a bit of an annoyance.
5 - cut the drummer out; he's not doing anything for the image.
6 - solid.
7 - excellent use of the angle. like it a lot
8 - this one i'd prefer to be properly vertical, to be honest.
just my 2 pennies, hope it was helpful!

#6 really stylish vibe to it, kinda sepia like
#7 agree with narlus, great composition, colors, slightly soft at the head but still great
The others, especially at the top have some major blown highlights. not sure the story there. if in the same situation, i would try to underexpose about 1 stop.

I'm a bit partial to the first one; I've had the opportunity to hang out with those guys and, if I can coincide a business trip with their tour, may spend a bit of time on tour with them. Excellent picture of Steven Page.
The guy in #2 and Johnnie Reznick (sp?) should be congratulated on their choice of guitar...

First off: #1-5 and 7 are (partly) overexposed.
#1: Pity about the fingers being cropped.
#2: Bit too central, and IMO feet should not have been cut, or the crop should have been tighter left and top.
#3: Difficult, when you want to maintain 2:3 ratio. Would be a nice pano. Maybe could have been cropped looser. Don't know. Timing is good, but it would have been nice if they wer closer together.
#4: Crop is okay, BG is too overexposed.
#5: Crop off the drummer, and a bit of bottom and top.
#6: nice crop.
#7: nice crop
#8: nice crop. Best image.

Solid set there, with my fav's being 1 6 and 7, they're really nice, great framing on the Dancer, and nice contrast and color tone, looks very Classical, and nice colors on No1.
keep at it.

Very nice captures.
#6 looks to be a bassist rather than a celloist.

Thanks for the replies, folks. It's fun to see (well, READ) different opinions. :-) I appreciate the feedback.
I am hoping to take some classes on Photoshop, as I have no idea what I'm doing with it. I think that's what made the topmost images look so blown out.
Also, I tend to admire this photographer, so maybe that also has something to do with it.... http://www.tarawhitney.typepad.com/
Thanks again.
Cheers!

Lot's of info on the net, but start off by calibrating your monitor, and setup color management correctly, if you haven't allready done so.
PS 5.5 or PSE5?
For PS 5.5 read this (http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps5_colour/colour_1.htm). Lots of good info if you browse further on that site...

Nice. I can see what you mean. Still, there is a difference between 'high key' and 'blown out' ;)
