Durham Dales

First shot I took with my 17-40 L the other week.
Advice on how to improve my technique is GREATLY appretiated. I'm new to landscape.
My initial thought is an ND grad filter may have improved the sky.

I was in the Durham Dales on Saturday, went to a place called Stanhope in Weardale with my dad. I took my camera as well, may put some photo's up.

County Durham is weird - You come from the large urban settlements on the coast, to pretty quiet villages and thin winding roads on the dales. (About 30 miles inland)
