Anyone out there own this pack?

Thinking hard about getting one when the Mark II shows up. Not sure if it is overkill but I would rather have room to grow into than needing to buy something else later.

I have it's baby brother, the "Photo Trekker AW II". A very nice bag but VERY heavy when fully loaded so I can only imagine what that puppy would weigh.
Go for it, but keep eating the spinach! ;)

I got one about two months ago. It’s BIG and when full, very heavy. It is excellent for the big trips (i.e getting there) but I must confess I still transfer selected items to my Billingham shoulder bag which I find a lot more convenient. The Lowepro is a really well made (or should that be engineered) bag but it has so many dangling straps that it can only really be carried as it was meant to be, on your back, and that is just too impractical when you are in a crowd or on the move.

I'm 6'5" 275 Lbs. Believe it or not smaller packs are less comfortable. Do you guys find the inside versatile enough? Never had anything from Lowepro.

We should start one of those "How big are you threads... I am 6'6" and 280 Lbs. It's great to know there is a fellow giant on the forum.
To be honest I am still playing with the layout, at the moment it has a D60, 100-400 L IS, a 17-40 L, 550 EX, a rake of odds and sods filters, X drive, spare batts for the camera and flash and I also have a Canon XM1 video camera in there (sad I know but it does have L Glass :D )
There is still plenty of room, and I have more of the deviders out of the bag than in it.
I wasn't joking about the number of straps, there are dangly bits all over it.
It is very versitile, so much so that I still have not figured out the best configuration for me.

I got that pack a month ago. i was SURPRISED how big it was, much bigger than expected, not for everyday pick up, but exceptionally comfrtable. LOTS of room. but if you try to fill it up, you need help to carry it :D
for travelling with and seccuring your photography gear, that's exactly ant. my main concern non is actually : can I get it with me in the plane, obviously I won't let my camera and its babies go with hte lagage down there. did anyone of you guys ever did that ?

I got the Nature Trekker AW II as it was the biggest I could find that Lowepro still claim as being in the carry on range for air travel. Even that is mightly heavy when full but I managed
10D, D60, 100-400, 17-40, 50mm, 28-135, 550EX battery charger batteries and all the usual small gubbins. I couldnt then pick it up mind  never mind put it in the overhead but it proved I would never ever want a bigger baganything bigger

Photography is the game, and mobility is my name
I am still looking but right now I am just using a regular backpack (kinda like Jansport backpack) turn forward so I can have my camera and lens sit inside the backpack in front of me ready to be taken out at a moment's notice.
Also that way I can change lenses, swap out CF card, battery while having the camera in my bag.

Ferdinand

I have a Lowepro Phototrekker AW and have never had a problem using it as carry-on luggage on an airplane. It's decidely larger than the Nature Trekker II (I got one for Chritsmas) and perhaps they've changed the size that you carry-on, but as I say it's always been OK for me.
