My friend wants to get a 37mm lens adaptor for his A60 from lensmate, but the site says it's for the A80. Will it work?

I think so. As I have understood it, A60, A70 and A80 are all equal in this regard.

I read somewhere while looking for an answer that the cameras have different zooms, so the lens sticks out more. But the bayonet mount is the same?

Maybe the bayonet is the same, but there must be something different because for the A80 Canon uses the LA-DC52D adapter and for the A60 they use the LA-DC52C.
The D seems to be somewhat longer.......

I do believe the bayonet mounting systems are similar, however the tube lengths are not. I do know however that the a60 and a70 bayonets are identical in length and mounting systems. Check ebay, as I jsut recently saw a 37mm bayonet for the a60/a70 for $10 or so.

And when the tube lenghts aren't equal it means you can't use them on a camera they're not made for. The additional lens is designed to be mounted on a fixed distance from the camera's lens and otherwise it won't be able to focus. You can compare it with a pair of glasses being to far from your eyes.
