I do like these pictures - brightly coloured, attractive subject matter.

However, there is scope for improvement...

in #2, you've learned the hard way that "megapixels are your friend". The legs of the girl on the left of the pictures are rather cruelly chopped off. So if possible, next time try to take wider shots and be more creative in your cropping afterwards.

#1 would benefit, I think, from some re-cropping. You don't have "Image Editing Allowed" so I can't show you my suggestion, but with a 3:2 crop ratio from just below the top right of the picture, you can cut out the one and a bit lady on the left hand side, coming down to just below the soloist's pointe shoe. To my mind, this balances the picture a little better.

Then add some Unsharp Mask for local contrast enhancement (10/50/0) and +5 saturation, and for me the picture leaps out a little more. Admittedly, the soloist is not central but you can't have everything!

regards,
/alan

Thank you for your input. It's remarkable how much can be learned from a short post. I was visiting photoshop tools I was unfamiliar with. Here are the results of your suggestions:

Crop is much better, but the image looks a bit like you took the small jpg of the OP and cropped and resaved that: Not crisp & artefacts.
You could try hosting the image elsewhere, and putting a link in your posts, that would allow bigger filesizes then 100kB, thus less compression.
