I have the Sigma currently, Going on a trip in a week and Kicking around the thought if Either Renting or just buying the "L". I am going to Memphis and then to Florida for our big Family Trip..

Here are some thoughts, I have and Love my Nifty Fifty and will use that Primarly, I "rarely" use my 28-70 unless the wider shot is needed. The 70-300 Sigma I use as well. I was thinking of selling the Sigma Glass (Both of them) and Just buy the L or Rent it and try it before I buy..

Please Any and All thoughts will be Greatly Appreciated..

I love my 70-200 and find it to be a really nice walk-around lens. Whether you buy it or rent it i'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Of course the L is quite a bit better: ring USM/FTM, build quality, inner focusing, better optics, faster (200mm f4), takes a 1.4x very well, etc. The issue is whether you want to pay the difference in price.
