I am looking for a good camera store here in the general Seoul, South Korea area. I am in Gimpo which is Northwest of Seoul and there does not seem to be a camera store anywhere in the whole city. I am looking for the type of store that I could pick up a 10D, or a 17-40L, not to develop film or buy a 3MP Fuji digicam.
Any help is appreciated however I don't expect that anyone can help.
Just a long shot.
If you help I promise to send you some pictures.

I FOUND IT!!!!
This is a late reply but after tooling around Yongsan (Seoul) for about 4 hours, I found the only Canon Authorized Dealer in Korea. They are located close to the subway in the absolutely HUGE building with the cylindrical entrance. If anyone wants to know more just let me know. They have a great selection of L's and all of the major Canon and Nikon SLRs.

It only took 2 months to respond to this.
The dealer I have been working with is in Yongsan, the major electronics area of Seoul. The store name is DGtal.net. They are located in the main Electronic Land building, Rm. C-134 on the 1st floor. The phone number is 82-2-713-0077. The manager, Kim Tae Woo speaks some English. He is a very honest guy and has even told me where his Canon competitors were when I needed a B+W filter. He is an authorized dealer and he gives fair prices.
Any other questions?? Let me know.

How are the prices in Korea?
I'll have an evening and morning to kill in Seoul (stopover on transit flight from Taiwan to Germany in July).
However, based on the prices for Canon gear in Japan and Taiwan, I don't expect much there, anyway.
Best regards,
Andy

You would pay between a 10-30% premium to buy in Korea. However if you are stuck here like me, it is cheaper than buying from anywhere else and paying for shipping, insurance, then tax when customs gets a hold of it.
Yongsan has about 300 shops that sell various cameras and have many, many used lenses on display. You may find a bargain there, but don't look for new L glass or any good digital bodies there except for the one store mentioned above. Be ready to negotiate, they try to rip off anyone that doesn't speak Korean.
Just say "Un day" (NO WAY!) and plug a lower price in to the supplied calculator.

Well, that was what I was suspecting.
... so it'll be the usual ginseng tea for me to buy there
Best regards,
Andy
