I want to get a SLR on ebay and pay with PAYPAL. It's a auction and it's at approx. $800 USD. Would this be covered by PAYPAL buyer protection up-to $2000 dollars.
THANK YOU

Well, I think so if its $800 and protection is up to $2000 then yes.
$2000 I only get £500 roughly $1000. How come you get $2000?

But I am not sure if Auctions are eligible.

Use a credit card through Paypal. It will offer you better protection and is easier to contest than through Paypal.
If you have a problem, your credit card company will charge back Paypal and Paypal will charge the seller.
You can work through Paypal, but it takes longer and is not as effective. I have had my time dealing with them and it was very tedious and lengthy.

Does anyone know for sure 100% that auctions are covered. I read the terms and it confuses the hell out of me.

Yes looking at other auctions you are covered, it should say it on the page towards the bottom under "Payment methods accepted". Although as Jakpro said its hell to claim it back lol

Thanks for all your help guys.
BoingBonkers this is at the top right of the listing :)
This item is covered up to $2,000 See eligibility.
Just the terms are so confusing. As I understand it I am covered if I 1. don't receive it,2. it's not as listed.

Just be really intensive on the research at looking at a deal. Take a look at past transactions, whether the e-mail address is in the post-saying contact me here(which is fraud for sure). Any price that's way out of the ordinary(too good to be true). That's also a way to protect yourself.

Yes they will cover up to 2k. At least paypal does.
I always pay with paypal.
The other day, I was buying a book from someone, won the bid and the seller suddenly said that he changed his mind. So Okay, since I'm a fast payer, I paid him as soon as I won.
Then I received an e-mail from him stating that he changed his mind. Then I told him through e-mails(twice) to return my money back. Guess what? He did not reply to my msg. I disputed the item and somehow managed to ask whether paypal will cover my money or not. and they said they will cover up to 2k.
haha sorry for the long thread.. .. I'm just a little pissed with that guy coz now I had another book coming which I won on e-bay.. .. :(

.
This advice is right on. My experience has been that paypal is great if you don't receive something but sucks if it's not what you order or is defective. If the seller can show they shipped it, paypal will usually side with the seller. The CC is the way to go.

My wife's having a hell of a time claiming back from some shyster that took her money and ran. 10 other ebay purchasers are also complaining they paid and never received their goods too.
