I was shooting some HS basketball games this weekend, and I experienced something new. By the way, I have a DRebel and I was using a 256 SanDisk Ultra II CF Card...shooting in RAW. I had done a fair amount of shooting, and the CF card was almost full. The LCD display on the back of the camera said that I should have 2 pictures remaining before the card was full. So...I took a picture...the "2" started blinking, the red light flashed (which indicates the card was writing)...then when the card was done writing, the "2" came back up again, and I discovered that the picture had not been written to the card. My only thought was that the card was obviously full. Why then did the camera tell me that I had 2 pictures left? I can handle it if the card was full...I just want to make sure that there isn't some sort of problem with the camera or CF card.

It should be said that after this happened, I immediately uploaded all of the pictures on the card to an X-Drive, then I erased all the images from the card. The card then worked without any problems.

I wouldnt worry about it then, it probably meant your card was full. The cameras cant read the exact amount of data on the cards anyway, as in you dont get "exactly" the same amount of data on every card, my 256MB card only has 248MB alloted to it, and another 256 MB card gives me 250MB.. they differ.. the same goes for computer hard drives, you dont get EXACTLY 20GB on a 20GB HD, you usually get a little less....
