I was just cruising around the forum when I came apon yet another PC VS. Mac thread. So that got me wondering, how many of you use a skin on your mac or pc? I used to have a mac, but have since switched to a pc because of cost at time of needing new computer. Since I miss the look and design of a mac, I run a Panther skin on XP, with some other ghetto tools. It may not be a mac, but it resembles one and really doesnt use any extra ram. Here are a few pictures of what my skin on XP looks like.

Besides telling Windows XP to use the Silver (instead of blue) theme color, thats it. I used to run some of the Stardock skinning tools a long time ago but figured I would rather have those resources for making my applications run faster.

I have run both standard and then the skin with minimal ram usage. I thought for sure it would hog a lot of ram, but it hardly uses any. I do have everything set on minimal ram usage though. The OS skin has more eye candy that I don't use.

Where did you download the skins on your Mac? Right now I'm running OS skins but I dig yours.

Interesting look.... but naaaahh, not for me. - I tend to be a minimalist, like to keep the machine stripped for speed, boot, loading and shutdown. I think it's a nice look, but I keep overhead to a minimum.

idk about the OS being ugly, so much as boring after a really long time. therefore i use object dock, cursorXP, windows blinds, ect much like you.

I treat my computer as a tool, cell phone the same way. I'm into function, not trendy looks. Just me and my way, each to their own. Whatever floats someone else's boat is fine by me. It just seems to me that some people waste both time and money on stuff that means nothing to me, but I bet if someone looked at ALL of my possessions, they'd fins things that would make me out to be a hypocrite on this, but I can't think of anything.

If you disable theme protection on xp, using themes will generally not incur any extra ram penalty, assuming you don't use a 50mb theme.
I like panther theme myself, its just clean and as light as any xp theme.
R_metzel see the min/max buttons in your ps shot? they are out of wack, a newer theme was released that fixes the issue, trouble is it can be a bugger to find, shoot me your mail addy if you want it and have trouble finding it.

Don't run a skin on XP, but run them like crazy on Firefox.

Guilty of the bf2 thing, it's more the game engine/development (mostly environments/realism)that interests me, can't do that well without getting to know games so it means I have to sacrifice some free time to playing a bit ;)
I have used this mac thing for a long time now, once in a while I try something else but eventually crawl back to panther theme. My secret to running the eye candy with no slowdown, including HT I have 4 available processors, throw the candy on cpu 3 and forget about it.
