New and need advise for zoom lens when using a Canon 20D camera. Recommendation between Canon 70-200 f4L IS vs. Sigma 70-300 f4.0-5.6 DG APO? Want to take inside a gym basketball shots, outdoor baseball, and nature. What is the dfference in quality and price?

The Canon goes for about $1,050 while the Sigma goes for about $200. In its price range, the Sigma is the best of the 70-300 budget zooms. The Canon on the other hand, is quite a bit more expensive, and possibly one of the sharpest telezooms ever made. Neither one would probably do too well for indoor gym shots, something like the Canon 85mm f1.8 for about $400 would be much better suited to the poor lighting. Outdoors the 70-200 f4 IS would be one of finest lense you could own.

Yep, if you have the money to spend then the 70-200 hands down, but in saying that the sigma is a fantastic lens for its price. For inside gym shots neither will be fat enough however.
