Fantastic .... Love 5,6,7! What is that instrument in 7? The first is an odd crop. One of the very few groups that I would really like to see/hear.

The instrument in #7 is basically a MIDI control device used to trigger percussion samples. IIRC, Futureman (the musician pictured) calls it the "Synthaxe Drumitar".

Nice set, 5 being the best for me, but some of them have so much empty space.

Say jrowe,
While I agree with the others about 5,6,7...# 3 & 4 could use a little bit of levels in sampling of the Black, and with a sampling of White too, for that extra depth...and it could be even further enhanced working with the gray zones for the "pop" effect...
Why? because I don't think the black in # 3 and # 4 is black enough...
PS: taygull taught me that...
James brings out a pretty good point regarding the empty space potential... it might be a personal preference... but checking these pics out for the third time since your initial posting... some do look a bit roomy.

Hard to define really. They have a devoted following, similar to jam bands like Dave Matthews.
Fleck plays banjoes of various types, and the influences in the music range from bluegrass to jazz to funk and world music.
My best advice is to get one of their CD's and have a listen. I like "Left of Cool" myself.

no doubt, left of cool is the best in my opinion, then get Live Art, it's their live shows taped off soundboard quality. VERY nice stuff.
thanks so much for the comments and suggestions, i'll see what i can do. cheers
