How do you effectively search the FS forum?

I'm trying to find a Tamron 17-50mm for sale, but I can't for the life of me get accurate searches.

If I type ' Tamron 17-50mm ' into search, it brings me anything and everything with ' Tamron ' ' 17 ' and ' 50 '

I tried putting quotes around it like "17-50mm" which is what google requires if you want an exact match, but still the same thing.

I've even done +17 +50 and still the same thing.

There is no surefire way to narrow the search.
If you use advanced search> key word> Tamron> search thread titles only. You will narrow it down quite a bit. I found several that way that had been started since Christmas but they were all sold.
